Regarding San Diego Comic-Con in less than a week. After purchasing about 3,000 books and spending the last few days trying to track down said books, San Diego Comic-Con couldn’t come soon enough. I’m really looking forward to recharging creative batteries and coming home with a little money to boot. (The menu here has been a little ramen-oriented lately.)
So what’s in store for you, the San Diegan, at the Halfpixel booth, #2107? How about Starslip Crisis, Volumes 1 and 2? And how about a little book called Chainsawsuit? Each one brimming with content you won’t find on any site? Hmm? How does that grab you? Does it? How about The Seas Are Just Packed, the t-shirt? Does that do anything for you? What about eight original button designs for San Diego Comic-Con? What about original art signed and matted just for the con? Howzabout if you find Magnolia on the show floor, she’ll give you a coupon for something free back at the booth (while supplies last)? Yeah.
How about a hearty handclasp and a thumbs up? How about you bring your sunglasses so we can exchange aviator fives?

As Brad has drawn and as Scott pointed out, Halfpixel is going to be in full effect all over the best parts of con, forming a healthy pair of PowerButtocks™ for maximum coverage. Brad, Dave and I will be at booth 2107, with a lot of new stuff debuting at con. Then, each of us will be taking turns at the Image Comics booth, 2729, signing our indispensable How To Make Webcomics — second printing! And last but not least, Scott has his own PvP empire taking up most of booth 1437, locking down Webcomics Alley for real and true.
Don’t forget our Halfpixel panels, too! We’re all doing two of them this year, both Friday:
3:00-4:00 An Introduction to Webcomics: The single largest explosion of new comics talent in history is happening online. Did you know that there are over 18,000 webcomics? Some of them have millions of readers. Most of these comics are free. Is this news to you? Then come and find out what you’ve been missing from Phil Foglio (moderator and writer/artist Girl Genius), Brad Guigar (Evil, Inc.), Dave Kellett (Sheldon), Scott Kurtz (PVP), and Kris Straub (Starslip Crisis). Room 3
6:00-7:00 How To Make Webcomics: Live!: The four authors of Image Comics’ breakout book How to Make Webcomics present a live version of their popular weekly podcast. Scott Kurtz (PvP), Dave Kellett (Sheldon), Kris Straub (Starslip Crisis), and Brad Guigar(Evil Inc) discuss some of the core issues in webcomics: making money and building communities. Room 8
If you live ANYWHERE in Southern California, and you miss this, I will never forgive you. All I have to say is, second place is first place loser. Says it all.
Regarding Webcomics Weekly. Webcomics Weekly, the powerhouse Halfpixel podcast, has changed locations. It’s got a new RSS feed, and a new iTunes location. Don’t get left in the dark! Update your aggregators.
Regarding Checkerboard Nightmare Retro. The site is a work in progress, but I’m doing video commentary for most (if not all) of Checkerboard Nightmare’s five year run. The archives will return, but for now, enjoy a look at some of the worst, oldest webcomics I’ve ever made.
Regarding Dave’s new book. I see Dave has a new book about pugs. It must be about our pug, Oxford! Because he’s the best pug ever. (He has papers.)

Off topic, but can I just say that Vanderbeam’s ulterior motive for finding Jovia fills me with glee
…That’s a scary, cute, scary picture of Oxford. the eyes…
…Go get PowerButtocks seriously TM’d.
